Laguna Niguel Soccer Player In 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

The 2018 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup started its games from November 13 until December 1 in Uruguay.

On Wednesday, November 14, the U.S ladies began their play in the tournament. The U.S soccer team played against Cameroon with two players from Orange County’s own SoCal Blues soccer club, Trinity Rodman and Isabella D’Aquila, both forwards.

This game against Cameroon is the first of three in group play for the U.S national team. The top two victors in each of the four-team groups will advance to the knockout stage in the tournament.

Trinity Rodman, a resident of Laguna Niguel, is the daughter of Dennis Rodman. Her father is a famous basketball player and a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. Rodman scored twice in her six games with the national team in the tournament. Recently, she made a non-binding verbal commitment to accept UCLA’s scholarship offer.

Joining Rodman is D’Aquilah from Mission Viejo. She was chosen as the Gatorade High School Player of the Year when she played for JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano in the 2017-2018 season. D’Aquilah impressively scored nine goals in 14 games with the under-17 women’s national team. Like Rodman, she also made a non-binding verbal commitment to accept Santa Clara’s scholarship offer.

Both athletes are teammates for So Cal Blues, a San Juan Capistrano-based club team.
